This story is so embarrassing, I can barely type it out. It happened recently, and I'm still cringing.
My back has been really stiff lately. I work a desk job, which doesn't help. After a busy morning of sitting with clients, I desperately needed to stretch. I tried standing in the bathroom, but it wasn't enough. I needed to lie down to really get to the tight muscles.
Since people are always coming and going from my office, I needed a private spot. I remembered the big conference room table. It's quite large, and from most angles, you can't see underneath it unless you're really looking. It seemed like the perfect, hidden place to get some relief.
The Secret Nap Spot
My break was an hour long. As soon as it started, I scurried under the conference table. The floor was cool, and I carefully started doing some stretches. It felt incredible. My muscles began to relax, and the stiffness started to ease up. I still had about 45 minutes left.
Since no one had come into the room or even seemed to notice me, I had a thought. "Why not just take a quick nap?" I figured I'd get some rest and wake up feeling refreshed. It seemed like a brilliant idea at the time, a little secret escape from the office.
I closed my eyes, thinking about how clever I was. The quiet of the room, combined with the relief from stretching, made me drift off quickly. I was looking forward to waking up feeling much better and ready to face the rest of the day. It was going to be my little secret.
The Rude Awakening
Suddenly, my phone alarm vibrated in my pocket. It was the end of my break. I opened my eyes, ready to get up and go back to my desk. That's when I saw them. A whole group of legs were sitting around the table above me.
My heart sank. I realized with horror that a conference was happening. Right above my hidden napping spot. People were talking, discussing things, completely unaware of the person sleeping beneath them.
I had a client scheduled for the top of the hour, meaning I had to leave my hiding spot soon. But the conference was clearly in full swing, and I couldn't just barge in. I was stuck, panicking about how I was going to get out of this incredibly awkward situation without causing a scene.
The Unveiling
I knew I couldn't stay there. I had to go back to work. Waiting for the conference to end was not an option. It was already late in my break, and my client would be arriving soon.
